Dallas, TX - Winter has forced us all into hibernation. For the past two days we have not been snowed in, no, that would have been tolerable. We have been iced in. The entire metroplex is covered in a half inch blanket of ice and here we are, isolated, locked inside our homes. And to add insult to injury, we woke up to a smelly gas leak this morning, a non-working heater, a freezing house and for me, a toilet whose pipes had frozen in the night. Flushing was out. There were even power outages all over the city throughout the day to “conserve energy”. Everyone in the city and all of our 100,000+ Superbowl guests are sucking the energy down to a low pilot light flame. Let’s not forget the colossal TV screens we’ll need to fuel at Cowboy’s Stadium this Sunday. I'm SURE that will take priority over heating residents' homes.
I guess I could look at this as a time to unwind, catch up on some book reading, and work on things I know I should be working on, but I already have cabin fever and I’m ready for things to go back to normal. I want to be able to just drive somewhere. Anywhere. Isn't it amazing how hard it is to surrender?
So being trapped inside the house for two, maybe even three days, has made me restless. I have had no choice but to take my time to enjoy the silence, relax more and surrender. Forcing nature to accept your agenda never works. Nature always wins. (See photo)
